England midfielder Declan Rice hopes Gareth Southgate will stay at the football club despite their disappointing 2022 elimination.

The 52-year-old guided his side to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and Euro 2020 finals. At this tournament in Qatar, the team were knocked out of the quarter-finals after losing 2-1 to France.

Rice praised Southgate tactics and performance despite the defeat and insisted he wanted the boss to stay at the club.

“For me personally I hope he stays. I don’t know and there’s been a lot of talk about it. But I think he’s been great for us and I think there’s a lot of criticism that doesn’t deserve it.” Rice said UFABET.

“He has taken us further than people expected. Tonight he gave everything to the team. It’s up to us on the pitch. The tactic is correct. We play the right way. We were aggressive and stopped Mbappe.

“It was two goals from the run and that doesn’t depend on the manager. It’s up to us on the pitch. I really hope he stays because the core we have and what he has built for us is so special. I love playing for him and I love playing for England.”

However, earlier it was reported that the 52-year-old head coach had decided to stay in charge of the “Three Lions” army until the end of the contract for another 2 years or until 2024 and was about to inform about this. The English Football Association (FA) has been informed.

Until recently, on December 18, FA Executive Chairman Mark Bullingham confirmed via Twitter. That Southgate will continue to act as England’s manager. And will lead the team to fight the European Football Championship or Euro 2024
