Drinking up to 25 cups of coffee or other caffeinated beverages a day does not harm your heart or harden your arteries, as was once feared, according to a new study.
Researchers from Queen Mary’s College, University of London, England, revealed that drinking up to 25 cups of coffee a day does not harm the arteries, contradicting past studies that indicated that drinking too much coffee can harden the arteries and increase the chances of having a stroke or heart attack.
The study was supported by the British Heart Foundation (BHF), and researchers gathered data from more than 8,000 volunteers across the UK and divided them into three groups based on how much coffee they consumed each day: those who drank less than one cup of coffee a day, those who drank one to three cups of coffee a day, and those who drank more than three cups of coffee.
The participants underwent detailed physical examinations, including a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan and infrared pulse oximeter test, to analyze the results, and said the results showed that drinking a lot of coffee did not harm the arteries.
It also noted that although the study included people who drank up to 25 cups of coffee a day, สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน the average daily consumption of the highest group was only five cups, so researchers need to study this sample group more closely for future research, such as determining a safe amount of coffee to drink.
In reality, there are other factors that affect the hardening of the arteries, such as age, gender, race, weight, height, history of smoking and drinking alcohol, diet, and high blood pressure.
